BUTTE -- Travis Kirby passed for 312 yards and Josh Shrum rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns Saturday as Montana-Western spoiled Montana Tech's homecoming with a 24-10 victory.

Shrum, who leads the Frontier Conference with 12 touchdowns, scored a 29-yard run and a 1-yard plunge in the first half.

Kirby hooked up with Cory Creighton for a 12-yard TD pass as Western (4-4 overall, 3-2 Frontier) led 21-7 at halftime.

Tech (1-6, 1-3) scored on a 2-yard run by Josh Johnson, who stepped in for injured Adam Cotton and rushed for 146 yards on 24 carries.

Tech pulled within 21-10 in the third quarter on a 41-yard field goal by Dan Kleckner.

Western answered with a 40-yard field goal by Eric Zahler in the fourth.

Jake Larson hauled in five passes for 69 yards for Western, while Dallas Mock caught seven for 68 and Creighton hauled in six for 67.
