Samford 57, Tennessee-Martin 22
MARTIN, Tenn. -- Samford got 516 yards passing from Ray Nelson and Kevin Tooker -- and scored on four plays of 79 yards or more -- to beat Tennessee-Martin 57-22 on Saturday.
Efrem Hill caught 11 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs (5-2, 3-1 Ohio Valley Conference), and added a 79-yard touchdown pass.
Martin (2-6, 1-3) also had two long scoring plays, including Jason Coleman's 90-yard kickoff return.
Nelson threw touchdown passes of 84 yards to Ossi Buchannon and 81 yards to Hill. He finished with 303 yards passing before giving way to Tooker in the second half. Tooker completed all 11 of his throws for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
Hill got into the other end of the passing act, taking a lateral from Tooker and tossing a 79-yard touchdown to a wide-open Buchannon to spark the Bulldogs' 30-point fourth quarter.
Buchannon caught only three passes, but they were good for 164 yards and two TDS.
Samford also scored on a 100-yard return of an intercepted 2-point conversion attempt after Coleman's kickoff return.
