Rocky Mountain 27, Montana St.-Northern 20
HAVRE -- Adam Sanchez passed for 165 yards and a touchdown and ran for 90 yards and another score Saturday as Rocky Mountain College held off Montana State-Northern 27-20.
Sanchez connected with Darrel Lockridge on a 57-yard TD pass, Jeremy Duprey added a 50-yard field goal and Jade Small recovered a fumble in the end zone to give the Bears (2-5 overall, 2-3 Frontier) a 24-0 halftime lead.
Northern (1-6, 1-4) got on the board in the third quarter on a fake punt. Holder L.D. Matthews took the snap and raced 19 yards for a touchdown.
Rocky answered with Duprey's second field goal, this time from 49 yards, to take a 24-6 lead.
Northern quarterback Neil Crandell passed for 322 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Lights tried to rally.
Crandell connected on a 15-yard TD pass to Kris Marshall in the third quarter and hit Clint Herrera on an 8-yard pass in the fourth quarter.
But Rocky denied Northern on three possessions late in the fourth quarter.
