Mesa St., Colo. 50, Adams St. 27
ALAMOSA, Colo. -- Charles Dukes ran for 194 yards and two touchdowns and Mesa State rolled up 453 rushing yards in a 50-27 victory over Adams State on Saturday.
Dukes averaged 19.4 yards per carry and scored on runs of 88 and 55 yards for Mesa (5-1, 4-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference). Quarterback Jeff Mowry carried 18 times for 70 yards, including a 4-yard TD, and Andy Coren carried six times for 53 yards with an 18-yarder for a score.
Casey Coulter had three field goals, one from 52 yards.
Mesa led 16-7 late in the first half after Coulter's field goals and Alfonso Alfini's 1-yard run, but Adams (3-4, 2-3) closed to within 2 when Kyle Jackson caught a 37-yard scoring pass from Matt Gotta.
Mesa exploded for 34 points in the second half, including Dukes' long runs.
Gotta was 15-of-29 for 227 yards and a touchdown. Bryan Bohanan had five receptions for 115 yards.
Mowry was 3-of-8 passing for 55 yards.
