RB Abdulqaadir among I-AA Players of the Week
JERSEY CITY, New Jersey - Southern Illinois running back Muhammad Abdulqaadir, who ran for 200 yards in an upset of Western Illinois, was among the ESPN/USA Today Division I-AA Players of the Week named on Monday.
Abdulqaadir averaged nearly seven yards per carry and scored two touchdowns in a 37-32 win over No. 2 Western Illinois. Abdulqaadir had TD runs of one and 27 yards as the Salukis improved to 7-0 for the first time since 1983.
McNeese State safety Rod Gulley and Northern Arizona kicker Paul Ernster were were named Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.
Gulley had 10 tackles, knocked down three passes and returned an interception for a score in a 33-20 win over Southern Utah.
Ernster kicked field goals of 46, 42, 32 and 47 yards and finished with 18 points in a 54-31 win over Eastern Washington.
