Seton Hall center out for first semester
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Seton Hall sophomore center Kelly Whitney is going to miss part of the basketball season so he can concentrate on his studies, the school announced Monday.
Whitney will practice with the team, but not participate in games. He is currently limited in practice with a torn tendon in his right thumb.
Whitney started all 30 games last season averaging 11.0 points and 6.1 rebounds. He shot a team-high 52.8 percent from the field and blocked 30 shots. He was selected to the Big East Conference's all-rookie team.
