Harrington to start at QB against Bears

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Joey Harrington will return as the Detroit Lions' starting quarterback against Chicago on Sunday.

Harrington started Sunday's 38-7 loss to Dallas, but was removed in the second quarter after completing just 5 of 13 passes for 30 yards and throwing two interceptions.

Mike McMahon replaced Harrington, but didn't improve things, going 5-for-20 for 51 yards and one interception. He also lost a fumble while scrambling.

On Monday, coach Steve Mariucci said he was going to talk to Harrington and McMahon and sit down with his offensive coaches before making a decision on who should start. He announced his decision on Wednesday.

Harrington has played with a dislocated index finger on his passing hand for about a month. He has said it was hampering him, but refused to use it as an excuse for his performance.
