ABILENE, Texas -- Lance Moore scored on a 2-yard run in overtime as Hardin-Simmons beat East Texas Baptist 20-14 Saturday.
Moore's run came after Hardin-Simmons (6-1, 6-0) got a long return on Reggie Robinson's block of Sean Struwe's 26-yard field goal attempt.
On Hardin-Simmons' first play in overtime, Moore ran 22 yards to the 3-yard line. Two plays later, he scored. Moore finished with 158 yards on 16 carries.
East Texas Baptist (5-2, 5-1) sent the game into overtime on Brandon Nelson's 6-yard touchdown pass to Earl Morris with 1:10 left in regulation.
The victory means Hardin-Simmons will face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Nov. 1 for sole possession of the conference lead. Mary Hardin-Baylor (7-0, 6-0) beat Sul Ross State 62-0 Saturday.
Hardin-Simmons' Brandon Neal was 16-of-24 for 216 yards. Jared May finished with six catches for 80 yards, including a 19-yard TD. He also ran six yards for a score
RoShawn Johnson had his seventh straight game with more than 100 yards rushing and finished with 131 yards on 35 carries for East Texas Baptist.
