BELTON, Texas -- Chad Starnes and P.J. Williams each scored two touchdowns as Mary Hardin-Baylor won its 18th consecutive regular-season game, beating Sul Ross State 62-0 Saturday.
Starnes had TD runs of 2 and 3 yards as the Crusaders (7-0, 6-0 American Southwest) jumped to a 34-0 halftime lead. Williams caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Cody Fredenburg and followed with a 55-yard punt return in a span of 1:10 in the third quarter.
Scott Kello led Sul Ross St. (0-7, 0-6) with 175 yards passing.
Mary Hardin-Baylor forced four turnovers and held Sul Ross State to 222 yards, including minus-21 yards rushing.
Zach Newcomb kicked a conference-record 52-yard field goal.
The Crusaders play Hardin-Simmons next Saturday for sole possession of the conference lead. Hardin-Simmons (6-1, 6-0) beat East Texas Baptist 20-14 in overtime Saturday.
