HELENA, Mont. -- Tyler Emmert passed for 298 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score in Carroll College's 59-7 victory over Eastern Oregon Saturday.
The top-ranked and defending NAIA national champion Saints (8-0) scored on their first seven drives and led 45-0 at halftime. One of the seven drives covered 95 yards in 17 plays, ending with a 5-yard TD pass from Emmert to Mark Gallik, who also caught a 12-yard TD pass in the first quarter.
Zach Zawacki and Jed Thomas also caught TD passes for Carroll, while Regan Mack returned a punt 85 yards for a fourth-quarter score.
The NCAA Division III Mountaineers (2-5) mustered five yards in total offense in the first quarter. They ended with 164 yards in total offense for the game.
Eastern's only score came on a 1-yard run by Damien Johnson with 2:32 remaining. Johnson rushed six times for 45 yards.
Eastern quarterback Scott Jensen passed for 78 yards, but was sacked six times. Carroll's Mark Nay recovered two fumbles.
