Smith, Bullocks, Sproles this week's Big 12 players
DALLAS -- Missouri quarterback Brad Smith, Nebraska's Josh Bullocks and Kansas State's Darren Sproles were named Big 12 Conference players of the week Monday by a panel of media covering the conference.
Smith received the offensive award after guiding his team to a 62-31 victory over Texas Tech. The Youngstown, Ohio, native set a Big 12 record, rushing for 291 yards. He ended the day with 419 total yards, the second most in school history after Jeff Handy's 491 yards against Oklahoma State in 1992.
Bullocks, of Chattanooga, Tenn., won the defensive award. In Saturday's 28-0 win over Iowa State, he blocked a punt that set up a 19-yard scoring drive. Bullocks grabbed the loose ball during another blocked punt and ran 26 yards for his first career touchdown. He has seven interceptions this season.
Special teams honors went to Sproles of Olathe, Kan., for leading Kansas State to a 42-6 win against Kansas with a 63-yard punt return for a touchdown. He rushed for 98 yards and holds the school rushing record with 2,619 yards since 2001.
