Benson to return to practice this week for No. 16 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas running back Cedric Benson will return to practice this week and will likely start against No. 12 Nebraska, Longhorns coach MackBrown said Monday.

Benson didn't practice last week and didn't play in Saturday's 56-0 win over Baylor after he was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing. He was the team's leader rushing before that game. Quarterback Vince Young now leads the 16th-ranked Longhorns with 550 yards.

Austin police said Benson and three other men forced open an apartment door on Oct. 7 to search for a television Benson had reported stolen.

Brown said he would continue to evaluate Benson and backup tailbacks Selvin Young and Brett Robin in practice but that Benson probably would start.
