Texans RB Davis, Packers LB Barnett named NFL Rookies of Month
An integral part of the AFC's fourth-ranked offense (337 yards per game), the 5-9, 216-pound Davis led all rookies in rushing yards (297) and receptions (23) in three games during the month.
On October 19, he recorded the club's first-ever 100-yard rushing game with 129 against the New York Jets. The following week, he totaled 109 against Indianapolis, becoming the first rookie to rush for 100 yards in his first two starts since Denver's Mike Anderson in 2000.
A fourth-round pick out of Louisiana State, Davis has a chance to become the first NFL rookie to gain at least 100 rushing yards in his first three starts when the Texans meet Carolina on Sunday.
Barnett totaled 31 tackles, one sack and one pass defensed in three games in October. He also was the only Packer to take part in all 203 defensive snaps.
Green Bay's first pick in the 2003 draft, Barnett had 11 tackles in a 35-13 win over Seattle on October 5, notching his second sack. He had 14 tackles on October 12 against Kansas City.
