Bears' Mike Green gets five-year extension
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Bears safety Mike Green signed a five-year contract extension Friday, preventing him from becoming an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
The safety has 38 tackles this season and led the Bears' defensive backfield with a career-high 138 tackles in 2002.
He was the final pick out of Northwestern State in the 2000 NFL draft.
