Bogut has big debut for Utes
SALT LAKE CITY -- Andrew Bogut had 21 points and 14 rebounds in his first exhibition game for Utah and Nick Jacobson and Richard Chaney each scored 15 in the Utes' 77-66 win over the L.A. Stars on Friday night.
Bogut, a 6-foot-10 Australian who was supposed to play for the Utes last season but didn't make it through the NCAA Clearinghouse, was 10-for-13 from the floor in 33 minutes.
The Utes shot 61 percent (30-for-49) in the game and led 37-26 at halftime. Center Tim Frost (back) and forward Bryant Markson (hip) did not play for the Utes.
Jelani Janisse and Derrick Anderson each scored 22 for the Stars.
Utah opens the season Nov. 15 against Georgia State in the preseason NIT.
