Wis.-Milwaukee 99, S. Indiana 76
MILWAUKEE -- Dylan Page scored 34 points to lead Wisconsin-Milwaukee past Southern Indiana 99-76 Saturday in the exhibition opener for both teams.
For Panther coach Bruce Pearl, who last year took Milwaukee to the NCAA Division I tournament for the first time in school history, it was a victory over a school he once coached.
In nine seasons at Southern Indiana before coming to Wisconsin-Milwaukee three years ago, Pearl compiled a 231-64 record and in 1995 won the NCAA Division II national championship.
The Eagles were led by John Oden with 20 points and Aaron Austin with 12.
Joah Tucker added 15 points for the Panthers, while Mark Pancratz had 13 and Adrian Tigert 11.
Page scored eight points in the first 2:29 of the second half to give the Panthers a 57-41 lead.
The Screaming Eagles never made a serious challenge the rest of the way.
Page hit the final basket of the first half to give the Panthers a 46-37 lead.
Paced by seven points from Page, Milwaukee jumped off to a 13-4 lead and was on top 39-25 on a 3-pointer by Ed McCants before the Screaming Eagle fought back to cut the lead to 46-37 at halftime.
