SAN DIEGO -- Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Micah Ross signed with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday to fill the spot left vacant when Eric Parker was put on injured reserve.

Parker re-injured his shoulder in Sunday's loss at Chicago and will miss the rest of the season.

Ross has played in 22 NFL games in three seasons, all with Jacksonville, but has yet to catch a pass.

He played in one game with the Jaguars this year and was inactive for three others. He was released on Oct. 3 to make room for Jimmy Smith, who was coming off a four-game NFL suspension.

The Chargers signed defensive tackle Clenton Ballard to the practice squad and released rookie defensive end Omari Hand from the practice squad.
