KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks tight end Ryan Hannam underwent successful surgery to reconstruct a torn ligament in his right knee, the team announced Wednesday.

The operation was performed Tuesday by two team physicians, Dr. Kevin Auld and Dr. Ed Khalfayan, at Seattle Surgery Center.

The 23-year-old Hannam, a second-year player from Northern Iowa, was placed on injured reserve last week, ending his season. He tore the ACL against Chicago on Oct. 19.

Hannam's only career reception was a 16-yard touchdown catch against Arizona last season.
