BC-CRI--India-IPL Coverage,ADVISORY, CRI
The Associated Press and other international news organizations have suspended coverage of the Indian Premier League cricket tournament that started Wednesday in Kolkata.
IPL organizers have barred photographic agencies that have traditionally covered cricket from working at the one-day international tournament, which is made up of franchise teams.
Organizers say a small selection of pictures taken by its own photographers will be made available to the media.
The tournament is run by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the sport's governing body in India. International media did not cover tours to India by Australia and England in the last six months because of similar restrictions.
AP is working with the News Media Coalition, a consortium of international media, to try to resolve the issue.
