US beats Russia 40-26 in Wales
COLWYN BAY, Wales -- Leeds Carnegie scrumhalf Robbie Shaw scored two of the United States' six tries as the Eagles opened their November tour of Europe with a convincing 40-26 win over Russia on Friday.
Eric Fry barged over in the 6th minute to give the United States a lead they would hold throughout the match. Saracens fullback Chris Wyles scored a try and kicked five conversions, Toby L'Estrange crossed for a try in his international debut, while Brian Doyle had the Eagles' five pointer.
Andrey Temnov scored two tries for Russia and Vladimir Ostroushko had one, while Igor Klyuchnikov kicked three penalties and a conversion.
In another match, also at Wales' Parc Eirias stadium, Samoa defeated Canada 42-12.
The United States will play Tonga in Wales on Nov. 17, with Canada meeting Russia.
