CONTENDER: Jordan Spieth, tied for the 54-hole lead at the Masters and The Players, made five bogeys for a 74 and tied for fourth.

SHOT OF THE DAY: Kaymer rolled in a 30-foot par putt on the 17th hole to protect his one-shot lead.

ROUND OF THE DAY: Furyk had a bogey-free 66, the second-best score on Sunday and nearly made up a six-shot deficit.

KEY STATISTIC: There were only 28 shots hit into the water this week on the par-3 17th, the fewest since the PGA Tour began keeping track in 2003.

NOTEWORTHY: Kaymer joined Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott as the only players to win a major, World Golf Championship and The Players Championship.

QUOTEWORTHY: "It gives me a lot of belief and a lot of confidence that I can make those putts. I've done it in the past and today again. It's a great feeling." -- Martin Kaymer on his par putt at No. 17.
