Injury takes Olympic alternate out of American Cup
INDIANAPOLIS -- Olympic alternate Elizabeth Price won't compete in the American Cup because of a strained hip muscle.
USA Gymnastics said Thursday that a replacement for Price will be chosen after a women's team training camp next month. Romania's Larissa Iordache has also withdrawn from the American Cup, which will be held March 2 in Worcester, Mass.
Japan's Koko Tsurumi and Canada's Victoria Moors have joined the eight-woman field, which is headlined by Olympic gold medalist Kyla Ross. The American Cup will be the 16-year-old's first competition since she and the Fierce Five won the team gold in London. Hiroki Ishikawa of Japan was added to the men's competition, which will feature London all-around medalists Marcel Nguyen (silver) and Danell Leyva (bronze).
