Coastline is 5-2 favorite for Delta Downs Jackpot
VINTON, La. -- Coastline was made the 5-2 early favorite for the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot.
Ten 2-year-olds were entered Tuesday for the 1 1/16-mile race that awards $600,000 to the winner, along with 10 points toward a possible starting position in next year's Kentucky Derby.
Trained by Mark Casse, Coastline is coming off a three-length win in the Street Sense Stakes at Churchill Downs on Oct. 27. Casse won the Jackpot with Turf War, who dead heated with Z Humor in 2007.
Trainer Doug O'Neill will try to win his second straight Jackpot on Saturday when he sends out 5-1 fourth choice Rum Point, who will run on dirt for just the second time after finishing 12th in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita three weeks ago. Rum Point will be ridden by Mario Gutierrez, who teamed with Goldencents and O'Neill to win in 2012.
Rise Up was made the 3-1 second choice. Trained by Tom Amoss, Rise Up won the Jean Lafitte Stakes at Delta Downs.
Casiguapo, the 4-1 third choice, finished second in Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga and is trained by Mario Morales.
