Royal Lahaina wins Aqueduct's Go For Wand Handicap

NEW YORK -- Royal Lahaina, a 13-1 shot trained by Todd Pletcher, won the $300,000 Go For Wand Handicap on Friday at Aqueduct.

The 5-year-old took charge with a three-wide sweep at the top of the lane. She held off the late-running Centring by 2½ lengths in the race for fillies and mares.

Royal Lahaina, ridden by Jose Ortiz, ran the mile in 1:36.56 and won for the seventh time in 25 starts.

The winner paid $28.20, $9.50 and $5. Centring returned $3.50 and $2.80 as the 2-1 favorite. My Pal Chrisy showed at $3.30.
