Samraat romps in Big A's Damon Runyon Stakes
NEW YORK -- Samraat improved to 3 for 3 with a 16 3/4-length romp Wednesday in the $100,000 Damon Runyon Stakes for New York bred 2-year-olds at Aqueduct.
Jose Ortiz was aboard for trainer Rick Violette as Samraat, the 3-5 favorite, took charge at the start and pulled away at the top of the stretch. The time was 1:44.09 for 1 mile, 70 yards on the track rated good.
Samraat paid $3.40, $2.60 and $2.10. Forever Utopia, the distant runner up, returned $6.10 and $3.10, and Deceived paid $2.30 to show.
