Strong Impact wins Belmont feature

NEW YORK -- Strong Impact edged stablemate Spring to the Sky by a half-length Friday in the $85,000 allowance feature at Belmont Park.

Bruce Brown trained the first two finishers and they were uncoupled in the betting.

An 8-year-old gelding making his season debut, Strong Impact improved to 9 for 39. Cornelio Velasquez was aboard for the six furlongs in 1:09.09 over the firm turf course.

Strong Impact paid $12, $5.20 and $2.80. Spring to the Sky returned $4 and $2.70, and Hear the Footsteps paid $2.80 to show.
