Wonder Gal wins Belmont's Lynbrook Stakes

NEW YORK -- Wonder Gal romped to a 14½-length victory Sunday in the $125,000 Lynbrook Stakes for New York bred 2-year-old fillies at Belmont Park.

Bet down to 4-5 for her debut, Wonder Gal was the early trailer in the five-horse field. She launched a bid with a strong inside run on the turn before surging past rivals.

Taylor Rice was aboard for trainer Leah Gyarmati as Wonder Gal ran the six furlongs in 1:11.14 on the fast track. She paid $3.60, $2.60 and $2.10.

Accelebrate, the distant runner-up, returned $6.10 and $3.30 while Saluda paid $3 to show.
