Blueskiesnrainbows wins Swaps for Baffert
INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- Blueskiesnrainbows defeated Nonios by three-quarters of a length to win the $150,000 Swaps Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park on Wednesday, giving trainer Bob Baffert his record fifth victory in the Grade 2 race for 3-year-olds.
Ridden by Joe Talamo, Blueskiesnrainbows ran 1 1/8 miles on the synthetic Cushion Track in 1:50.89 and paid $9.60, $6.60 and $3. The win helped Baffert break a tie with fellow Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas for most wins in the race. Baffert leads the spring-summer meet with nine stakes victories.
Nonios returned $4.20 and $2.60 in losing for the first time in four starts against fellow colts. Liaison, the 2-1 favorite also trained by Baffert, was another head back in third and paid $2.40 to show.
