Singlet wins Big A's Garland of Roses Stakes
NEW YORK -- Singlet took charge turning for home and rolled to a 1 1/4-length victory over Kid Kate, the 8-5 favorite, in the $75,000 Garland of Roses Stakes for fillies and mares Saturday at Aqueduct.
Facing older rivals for the first time, Singlet raced to her fifth win in 10 starts. Mike Luzzi was aboard for trainer Tony Dutrow as the 3-year-old ran six furlongs in 1:10.75 over the fast track.
Singlet paid $5.80, $3.30 and $2.30. Kid Kate returned $3.10 and $2.10, while Delightful Quality paid $2.30 to show.
