Peppy Bolly wins Santa Anita feature
ARCADIA, Calif. -- Peppy Bolly overhauled 7-5 favorite A Drop Dead Diva at the top of the stretch and went on to a 2 3/4-length victory in the $30,000 Sonoma Purse at Santa Anita on Friday.
Ridden by Joe Talamo, Peppy Bolly ran six furlongs in 1:10.94 and paid $9, $4.40 and $2.60.
Lets Get Frisky returned $5.60 and $3.20, while A Drop Dead Diva was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.20 to show.
"I was a little worried because we were about four-wide going to the far turn, but she's the kind of filly that you don't want to get much dirt in her face," Talamo said. "She really kicked away nice today and I only showed her the stick one time."
The victory, worth $21,600, increased Peppy Bolly's career earnings to $90,600, with two wins in 13 starts.
