Byrama wins Vanity 'Cap under Gary Stevens
INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- Byrama won the $250,250 Vanity Handicap by 3½ lengths at Betfair Hollywood Park on Saturday, giving Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens his second Grade 1 stakes win at the spring-summer meet.
Byrama ran 1 1/8 miles in her debut on Cushion Track in 1:51.40 and paid $14, $6.20 and $3 at 6-1 odds. The 4-year-old filly was racing without blinkers for the first time in 10 months.
More Chocolate, also making her synthetic track debut, returned $3.60 and $2.60. Lady of Fifty was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.20 to show as the 8-5 favorite.
Stevens won his first race at the track in nearly eight years aboard Marketing Mix in the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes on May 27.
Byrama has five wins in 19 career starts and earnings of $484,750.
