Holy Lute wins $100,000 El Cajon Stakes

DEL MAR, Calif. -- Holy Lute held off Fury Kapcori by a head Friday in the $100,000 El Cajon Stakes at Del Mar.

Ridden by David Flores, Holy Lute ran a mile in 1:35.38 and paid $15, $6 and $4. Fury Kapcori returned $3.60 and $2.60, and Tiz A Minister paid $2.60 to show.

The winner's purse of $60,000 boosted Holy Lute's career earnings to $111,240.

"I've loved this horse since he was a yearling," trainer Jim Cassidy said. "He ran against some seasoned horses today, but I knew he'd run well."
