Sustained wins the Belmont feature

NEW YORK -- Sustained held off Frege by a neck Sunday in the $87,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares Belmont Park.

A 3-year-old trained by Dale Romans, Sustained has never been worse than third in seven starts with a record of 2-2-3. Junior Alvarado was aboard as the 3-1 second choice ran a mile on the firm turf course in 1:34.49.

Sustained paid $8.60, $5.70 and $3.10. Frege rallied from last in the 10-horse field, returning $20 and $9.10 as the longest price in the race at 22-1.

Yes It's Pink, the 2-1 favorite, ran third and paid $2.80 to show.
