Baby J wins Belmont's Catinca Stakes
NEW YORK -- Baby J edged Maracuya by a neck Wednesday in the $90,000 Catinca Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Belmont Park.
Sitting second while Maracuya, the 1-2 favorite, set the pace, Baby J got up in the final strides for her fourth win in nine starts. All her victories have come at Belmont, where she is 4-1-1 in six races.
Javier Castellano, who had three wins on the card, was aboard for trainer Pat Reynolds. The time was 1:11.03 for six furlongs on the fast track.
Baby J paid $5.70 to win as Profetiza was the third, and final, runner in the compact field. There was no place or show wagering.
