Padres acquire prospect Dickerson from Pirates
SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres have traded right-handers Brad Brach and Miles Mikolas, and outfielder Jaff Decker in separate deals for two prospects, including Eastern League Rookie of the Year Alex Dickerson.
The Padres sent Mikolas and Decker to Pittsburgh on Monday for Dickerson, a first baseman-outfielder who's from the San Diego suburb of Poway.
Dickerson spent all of 2013 with Double-A Altoona, batting .288 with 17 home runs and 68 RBIs. In 2012, he was the Florida State League Player of the Year after batting .295 with 13 home runs and 90 RBIs.
San Diego acquired minor league right-hander Devin Jones from Baltimore in exchange for Brach.
Jones spent nearly all of the 2013 campaign with Double-A Bowie, going 4-7 with a 5.84 ERA in 24 starts. He also made one start with Class-A Frederick.
Brach, Mikolas and Decker were designated for assignment by the Padres on Nov. 20.
