Brewers IF Ginter named NL Player of the Week

NEW YORK - Milwaukee Brewers infielder Keith Ginter on Monday was named the National League Player of the Week.

In the season's final week, Ginter batted .407 (11-for-27) with three homers while leading the league with 11 RBIs. He also led the league with 25 total bases to go along with a .926 on-base percentage.

Others nominated for the award included Philadelphia teammates Bobby Abreu, Jimmy Rollins and Placido Polanco, Houston teammates Jeff Kent, Roy Oswalt and Brandon Backe, and Florida's Juan Pierre.

Pitchers nominated included Florida's Josh Beckett, Arizona's Randy Johnson, Pittsburgh's Oliver Perez and Cincinnati's Paul Wilson.
