Reds activate RHP Ortiz
Ortiz was activated from the 15-day disabled list Sunday and will start in the afternoon game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Acquired in the offseason from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim last December, Ortiz aggravated a right groin injury in his Reds debut on April 8 after allowing one run and five hits in five innings against the Houston Astros.
Ortiz first suffered the injury in spring training, leaving his exhibition start on March 23 against the New York Yankees.
Ortiz won a total of 31 games for the Angels in 2002 and 2003 before being demoted to the bullpen last season.
The Reds optioned righthander Todd Coffey to Class AAA Louisville of the International League to make room on the roster for Ortiz.
