Amezaga agrees to deal with Marlins

MIAMI -- Infielder Alfredo Amezaga agreed Tuesday to a $340,000, one-year contract with the Florida Marlins.

Amezaga played in only five games combined for Colorado and Pittsburgh last season, batting .167 with one stolen base. He appeared in 122 games from 2002-04 for the Los Angeles Angels, hitting .209 with four home runs and 20 RBIss.

Primarily a shortstop, Amezaga has also played third base and second base at the major league level. He was drafted in the 13th round of the 1999 draft by the Angels, and played high school baseball at Miami High.
