Former big leaguer Hamilton hired by commissioner's office
NAPLES, Fla. -- Former major league outfielder Darryl Hamilton was hired by the commissioner's office Tuesday as senior specialist of on-field operations.
Hamilton, who spent the last three years working as a radio broadcaster for baseball's Internet division, spent 13 seasons in the major leagues with Milwaukee, Texas, San Francisco, Colorado and the New York Mets. He'll work on investigating on-field fights and ballpark standards.
"Darryl's multifaceted career in baseball brings a unique perspective to our department, and his playing background will be an asset," said Bob Watson, baseball's vice president of on-field operations.
