Dodgers' Loney injured crashing into outfield wall
Loney went to backhand a fly ball by Gary Matthews Jr. and hit the wall with an audible thud. The game was delayed for several minutes while Loney lay on the warning track. He was taken off the field on a cart and waved to fans.
"I had a fear that he hit his head, but as it turned out, he didn't," manager Grady Little said. "The knee situation looks like just a bruise from where he made contact with the wall. They were moving it around good there in the outfield, and he was walking around after the game. So those are all positive signs."
Loney was set to have precautionary X-rays and is day-to-day. The Dodgers are off Monday before opening a 10-game road trip in Toronto on Tuesday. Little said he expected Loney to be able to play then.
Loney entered the game as part of a double switch in the seventh inning.
