Kennedy is claimed off waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks; A's recall Lugo
Kennedy, who pitched for the Athletics on Thursday night, was 3-9 with a 4.37 ERA with Oakland. The left-hander began the year in the starting rotation but each of his last 10 outings were in relief.
The A's recalled right-hander Ruddy Lugo from Triple-A Sacramento to replace Kennedy on the 25-man roster.
Lugo was 3-0 with a 0.45 ERA and a team leading 10 saves in 17 relief appearances with Sacramento. He did not allow a run in 16 of those outings and held opponents to a .081 batting average.
This is Lugo's third stint with the A's this year after being claimed on waivers from Tampa Bay on June 14. He had two wins and a 9.28 ERA in 11 games with the Devil Rays and then posted a 21.00 ERA in three relief appearances for the A's. His overall ERA is 11.85 in 14 games.
