BALTIMORE -- Right-handers Cla Meredith and Matt Albers agreed Saturday to one-year contracts with the Baltimore Orioles.

Meredith will make $850,000 under the deal announced ahead of the deadline to offer 2010 contracts to players on 40-man rosters. Albers received a split contract calling for $680,000 if he is in the majors and $275,000 if he is in the minors. Neither deal is guaranteed.

Baltimore failed to offer a contract to right-hander Brian Bass. He becomes a free agent and can sign with any team starting Sunday.

The 26-year-old Meredith had no record and a 3.77 ERA in 29 relief appearances for Baltimore, which acquired him from San Diego on July 19. Albers, also 26, was 3-6 with a 5.51 ERA in 56 games for the Orioles this year.

Bass, who turns 28 next month, was 5-3 with a 4.90 ERA in 48 relief appearances this year.
