Joe Mauer out with sore hamstring for Twins
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer has been held out of the lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers because of a sore hamstring.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire did not specify which hamstring was injured. He says Mauer tweaked it in the loss to the Brewers on Friday night. Gardenhire says Mauer felt discomfort early in the game, played the rest of the way and was being held out as a precaution Saturday.
He is listed as day to day. Gardenhire says Mauer is available to pinch hit if needed.
Justin Morneau returned to the lineup at first base after sitting out Friday night with a sore left forearm. Morneau took some swings in the batting cage before the game and says he's ready to go.
