CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs have signed catcher Koyie Hill to Triple-A Iowa after designating him for assignment earlier in the week.
The team announced the move before Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox. He cleared waivers after being designated on Thursday.
The Cubs had reacquired the 33-year-old Hill in a trade with Cincinnati in May. He also spent all or part of the past five seasons in the organization.
