Swisher out against Nats after bruising quad
WASHINGTON -- Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher was held out of the lineup against the Washington Nationals a day after leaving the game with a bruised quad.
New York manager Joe Girardi said Swisher was unavailable to pinch-hit Sunday and is day-to-day. Swisher hopes to return Monday against Atlanta.
"It feels like the worst charley horse ever," Swisher said.
Swisher walked into the clubhouse Sunday morning with a slight limp and carrying crutches under his arm. He said he needed the crutches to leave the clubhouse after getting hurt during a play at the plate Saturday.
"It feels way better today than yesterday," Swisher said before Sunday's game. "It's just tight. It feels all knotted up."
Swisher is hitting .262 with 10 homers and a team-leading 40 RBIs.
