Rockies recall LHP Cabrera from Double A
DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies have recalled left-hander Edwar Cabrera from Double-A Tulsa to start Wednesday night's game against the Washington Nationals.
Cabrera, 24, will make his major league debut against the Nationals. Cabrera was 8-4 with a 2.94 ERA in 15 starts for the Tulsa Drillers this season.
Cabrera was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Rockies in 2008. In 2011 was 8-3 with a 3.34 ERA while splitting time between Single-A Asheville and High-A Modesto. He led all of minor-league baseball with 217 strikeouts in 2011.
To make room for Cabrera the Rockies optioned righty Zach Putnam to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
The Rockies currently have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
