Chatwood recalled from Triple-A
DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies recalled right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood from Triple-A Colorado Springs and optioned left-hander Edwar Cabrera there two days after he struggled in his major league debut.
Manager Jim Tracy said Chatwood will be used starting on Friday as the long reliever, following the Rockies starter after he reaches his 75-pitch limit per their four-man rotation. Chatwood began the season with the Rockies and went 1-0 with a 5.63 ERA in four relief appearances.
On April 17, the Rockies optioned Chatwood to Colorado Springs where he went 0-2 with a 5.79 ERA in nine starts with 19 walks and 31 strikeouts in 37 1-3 innings.
Cabrera was recalled from Double-A Tulsa and made his major league debut Wednesday against the Washington Nationals. He gave up seven runs and five hits, including three homers, in 2 1-3 innings.
