ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays have re-signed outfielder Rich Thompson to a minor league contract.
The team also announced Thursday that five other players -- infielder Mike Fontenot, right-handed pitchers Matt Buschmann and Will Inman, first baseman Nick Weglarz and infielder Shawn O'Malley -- also agreed to minor league deals that include invitations to major league spring training.
The 33-year-old Thompson appeared in 23 games -- 12 as a pinch runner -- with the Rays after being acquired from the Philadelphia last May.
