Arizona agrees to terms with Kennedy, 3 others
PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have reached agreement on terms for a one-year, $4,265,000 contract with right-hander Ian Kennedy, avoiding arbitration with the team's No. 1 starter from a year ago.
Kennedy was 15-12 with a 4.02 ERA last season, with a team-high 187 strikeouts. The previous season, the Arizona ace went 21-4. He had earned $519,000 last season.
Ziegler was among the team's most dependable relievers last year, with career highs in innings pitched, appearances and opponent's average. He induced opponents into 21 ground out double plays, a club record and the most by any reliever since Doug Sisk of Baltimore had 21 in 1988.
Sipp, a left-hander, came to Arizona from Cleveland as part of a three-team trade. Johnson was acquired from Houston last July.
