BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics signed rookie forward Leon Powe on Tuesday.
Boston acquired the rights to the 6-foot-8 forward from the Denver Nuggets, who drafted him 49th overall out of California after only two years of college basketball.
Powe, a second-team Associated Press All-American last season at California, led the Pac-10 in scoring with 20.5 points per game and rebounding at 10.1 per game.
Over two seasons at Cal, he averaged 17.8 points and 9.8 rebounds.
